MilesOne Program

Sun Jul 27, 2008 2:56 pm

For those of you familiar with the MilesOne program, I have situations, I'd like your opinion on.

I do not have any experience with using these "miles", so this will be the first time. I have decided to cancel this credit card, but obviously would like not to lose the 110,000 miles i have built up. Thing is, I do not have any "personal" travel plans coming up, where I could use these miles. I would like to book the "most" flight to anywhere, using ever bit of my miles, and then later change it to whatever my plans end up being.

The way i read it, I can either use "their" travel desk, and book a flight through them, or book my own flight, and have them redeem me for the cost. Thing is, if you use their travel co. it says that the ticket is not refundable or changeable. But if I book it myself, I should be able to book a refundable ticket. Then have them redeem me with my miles accrued. Then cancel the card. This way, although I may have to pay a fee to later change that flight, to the one I really want, I haven't lost the miles.

Hopefully I have explained this correctly.

In a nutshell. I have 110,000 miles on a card, that I want to cancel this month. I have no plans to travel for a while. I don't want to lose those miles.
