Has Anyone Flown Non-rev On The A380 Yet?

Mon Aug 11, 2008 2:18 pm

Any experiences out there?

Thinking about doing it during winter, either December or January.

Also a question, does it cause problems if you're doing a quick turn around, like say you arrive and depart back the same day, and do you have to go through customs first? This question is for all airlines basically, on the international flights.

Sept 15th will be my 6th month at US, then I can start non-reving like a maniac. Can't wait. lol

Have positioned on it twice. Once SIN-LHR and LHR-SIN the second time. Both in J, R is off limits for positioning crews.....

Will try my luck in end Oct or early Nov SYD-LAX but as the a/c will be so new on the route I think it will be full - but it will not hurt to try  Wink

Would QF have any restrictions for non-rev's on those early A380 flights?

In J, the cabin layout is very similar to the 777-300ER. Fairly spacious. The biggest issue on the 380, like the 777-300ER with SQ, is the reliability of the IFE. There were several restarts to specific sections throughout the aircraft.

I was going to try and non-rev on the inaugaural DXB-JFK flight, just for laughs. Big grin

I think I may try and get on one of the EK birds when they start in and out of LHR as BA dont have a ZED agreement with SQ  Sad
