I not going to tell you what type of jets they are, I want it to be a surprise, but here a hint, they both heavy quad jets. Also they both are RR powered.

But you know that the title of the video already tells us which aircrafts it is. Big grin but even then it is not that hard to guess  Wink different wing design etc etc  Wink

I like the 1st one better  thumbsup

I would say rather number 2!

Looks a bit more spectacular.  Smile

I'm gonna guess:

1. QF 744 taking off from SYD
2. TG A345 taking off from JFK

 Wink

I like number 2 better. I like A350-500/600 engines.

Put me down for the A345 as well, I find the "buzzsaw" sound is deeper and not a bit more aggressive. Regardless, just watching them both is great, seeing 2 engines on the wing as opposed to just one is pure heaven ....  cloudnine

I'd say number two. The fact that it will be halfway around the world in BKK in less than 24 hours seems just mind-blowing. Shame it wouldn't be around anymore as I'd love to get on that flight.
The air in the clouds is very pure and fine, bracing and delicious because it's the same the angels breathe.

Same here. The first one was a cooler aircraft, cooler airline, cooler place, with nice long scenic views. The only thing I liked better about the second one was the view over the airport from the air, which the first one didn't really have. I don't know why I like the second one better.

Cheers

I'm going to have to go with the first video. The second one, the JFK departure was impressive, but I liked the long takeoff roll of the first as well as the view of the land and waterscape below.

The Rollers in both videos sounded fantastic, but I do prefer the first one just because of the scenery.
But these Rollers really sound nice  bigthumbsup  :

Delta L-1011; listen to that distinctive mooing sound on spool-up and the growl of those engines. I know the first video posted by the OP had RB211's, but the older version on the L-1011's sound even better!

Another fantastic sounding engine, the JT9D:

Another JT9D video taken of a Kalitta 741 taking off from MAN:

Those engines make an awesome growl and are screamers!  headache

In my opinion vid 1 was better, as you get the fearsome growl, plus the beautiful scenery on the climb out.

I do think this engine noise is better by far though:

Man that L1011 is haulin ass..Must be a light load..I like the first vid..Nothing like a 747-400. There is a vid on airliners of a LH747-400 out of HKG I think. Has some turbulence on the climbout you can see the wing flex is very prominent..I love that Vid.

Aaahh yes! One of my favorite aviation vids that displays the flexibility of the 744's wing in turbulence...Here it is:

Not to mention those 4 GE CF6's sound nice!  bigthumbsup

Sorry guys, NOTHING beats the deep groan of a 747 packing a set of JT-9s on takeoff.

Its a shame UPS is gonna retire their remaining JT9D-powered 747 classics at the beginning of next year, I will surely miss hearing that awesome sound around SDF.  frown

Normally I'd agree with that, but the sound of a 777 spooling up at MAN is unbeatable.

I don't know how to link that from YouTube....somebody...please???  pray

I am gonna miss those birds as well when they're gone. I love the 747-400s just as much, but the GE CF6s just don't sound the same. No deep groan to them, and they're only half as loud.
Not worth taking my earplugs out for.

Got to say that I like number 1 best. There is certainly something about the hum of an RB211 on takeoff. No other engine does it for me like this!!! It might have something to do with being from Derby too and my loyalty to RR, lol.

Had a lovely flight on a BA 767 yesterday and sat in row 4 so had a lovely view of the engine and listened to that famous sound on take-off
