Question On Heathrow Connection T3-T5

Sun Aug 31, 2008 4:35 pm

Hi fellow forumers

I got a question on connecting at Heathrow Airport, need some help since it's going to be my first time there.

I am flying from Singapore on SQ322 (my first A380 flight!) and will arrive LHR T3 at 0545hrs.

I need to connect to my flight to Prague BA854 which departs from T5 at 0800hrs.

Will have have enough time to make this connection? (I need to clear immigration, collect baggage, travel from T3 - T5, check in and clear immigration again)

Is the 2 hour connection time cutting it too close? Almost impossible?

Or am i better off booking a later flight which leave LHR for PRG at 1440hrs? (Meaning i got an almost 9-hour layover in Heathrow!)

Thanks in advance

Why ?? Just stay in transit, follow the signs and catch the bus that runs to T-5. Have done two AA-BA connections this pretty painlessly in 30-40mins.

If you really are planning to enter the UK, pick up your bags, go to T-5 and recheck then I would say all bets are off time wise as the airport is rather busy at 6am with all the morning activities.

I don't think i can do that, i am booking 2 separate flights for my journey. No interlining flights and my bags will not be checked thru. Think i have to clear baggage and immigration first. Or am i wrong?

Having separate tickets should not matter. SQ-BA do interline as carriers so if you show your onward BA ticket when checking in for SQ, they should easily be able to tag your bags to PRG. At LHR you can check in and get your boarding pass at the BA transfer facilities.

Otherwise, yes you would have to enter the UK, pick up your bags, and transfer to T-5 street side -- a much more time consuming and complex process.

I've decided to book my connecting flight from LHR on Swiss. LHR-ZRH-PRG. My Swiss flight leaves at 0850 from T2.

I'm keeping my finger's crossed......
