Will be a sunday, traffic isn't bad LGA to JFK.
While Sunday’s is usually the lightest traffic day, the traffic to JFK
in the afternoon is always busy because of all the international departures.
Unless there is an accident or bad weather, the trip from LGA
should take about ½ hour, but being its New York City, you never know what to expect.
Jan-Feb are snow and ice months, all it takes is one accident to tie up the Grand Central Parkway or the Van Wyck Expressway and you could be stuck there for a while.
What ever means of transportation you take, the shuttle bus or a cab will take the same roads, but the bus can not use the parkway, it has to take the side streets to the Van Wyck and it also stops at the Jamaica station of the Long Island Railroad which slows it down even more.
My recommendation, take a taxi. they will know the alternate routes. If the Van Wyck is backed up, they can take the Grand Central Parkway to the Cross Island Parkway right to JFK
, the busses can not do this because no commercial traffic is allowed on these parkways, only cars and vans.
