Flying From DXB To TLV With Stopover, Possible?

Mon Sep 15, 2008 12:28 pm

Folks,
working on a project in DXB/AUH right now.
My wife is visiting her family in TLV and I will have a few days off here. So I want to go and visit her.

Plan is to either use RJ or TK and fly

DXB-AMM-TLV-AMM-DXB
or
DXB-IST-TLV-IST-DXB

Question is:
Is it possible to even book such an itinerary?
Or should I split the bookings?
Do I potentially run into any trouble at either end of the journey when trying to check-in?

Your thoughts and comments are -as always- highly appreciated.

Tks!

Its possible to book this flight

Yes you will. The UAE government does not allow any passenger with an Israeli stamp in the passpost as the UAE does not recognize the Zionist regime.

Tks for input.

I am traveling on two different passports so it should not be an issue with any passport-stamping.
I was rather wondering whether I will have problems when "checkin in" for the flight.
Can I walk up to the counter in DXB and tell them "check me through to TLV" without anyone calling supervisors or any other authorities that might hand me a problem?

DXB-IST-TLV-IST-DXB

TK's service is said to be a bit more reliable than RJ's, even thought he routing is considerably longer.

Also the following thread came to my mind. Might be helpful ...

No. Book all the way to TLV and back.

If you form these words into a polite question, you should be fine. Might be wise to just hand over the ticket (or equivilent) and let the PSA find out your final destination ...

...Though the UAE have no problems whatsoever in having israelis transiting in DXB while flying EK... don't you just adore double standards?  mischievous

Lp0815, this most definitely would not be a problem. you can book the trip all the way, get your boarding passes to either final destination, and have your luggage sent all the way as well.
as singaporean citizens can hold a passport valid for israel only, you can use it and have no problems on either side. one thing though - Israeli security will have a couple of extra questions for you, but this also shouldn't be an issue. enjoy your flight  Smile

I think it's true for Qatar, not UAE...

No, trust me on that one. it's definite for Qatar - but also (for a fact) for the UAE, where Israeli passengers holding only Israeli passports do transit while flying EK or EY.

Folks,
thanks a lot for the replies so far.
I guess I'll just give it a try.
My wife is Israeli herself and I do speak some Hebrew, that usually helps - I look "Ashkenaz", too...
and as she used to work for the Israeli Embassy overseas I was security checked a few times, so I guess I can cope with a question or two.

Will let you know how it works out for me.
