God forbid you do get kicked off, the only way you can really get to CPT is with SA through JNB. I wuoldn't even fool around with any of the African carriers as their safety reputation are far inferior to the likes of US and European airlines (excl a select few, namely SA).
That isn't necessarily true. Don't get me started on this topic...I have written articles about it. Ethiopian Airlines has a very good reputation. Royal Air Maroc. Etc. There are a lot of myths surrounding the safety of African carriers.
In any case... The loads this week are light; I can't imagine you'd have any trouble on what is normally a very full route (DKR to JFK/ATL).
I am in DKR as I type this. On which day are you flying DL 129 back to JFK? Please let me know if it's Weds night/Thurs morning (25th).
The weather in CPT was gorgeous earlier this week. I hope it stays that way for you.
If, for some reason, you do get stuck in DKR, make the best of it and please ignore the many exaggerated reports of this place. There are many cool things to see in Senegal, so long as you're willing to get outside the city a bit. Visit the island town of Fadiout, for example, or the baobab forest, or one of the small villages near the so-called pink lake. Hiring a guide and driver is easy.
In fact, I prefer DKR to CPT. They're very different, obviously, but Senegal is much more interesting. You need to get out of Dakar itself, that's all.
Senegal might require a Yellow Fever certificate, but you needn't worry about any of that. I've been her many times and have never been ill.
Here are some pics from both DKR and CPT...
