3h10min Connection On AF Between CDG T2G And ORY

Sat Oct 04, 2008 10:18 pm

I found an interesting routing on AF's website from HAJ to MIA flying as follows:
HAJ - CDG // ORY - PTP - MIA (return either the same route or via FDF (Fort de France, Martinique) depending on weekday).

My main concern about such a routing is the transfer between CDG and ORY.
My flight would arrive at 0850h at Terminal 2G, which apparently is not served by
AF's coaches running between CDG and ORY. Therefore, this would mean to wair for luggage, take the shuttle #3 to Terminal 2D, queue there for the complimentary coach ticket, find the right door for the bus stop, wait up to 30 minutes for the next departure and then pray to make it to ORY in time to meet the check-in / baggage-drop deadline for the longhaul flight to PTP departing at 1200h noon.

Question is: How feasible is such a connection on a Friday morning ?

On a return, AF's website is selling even a 2h50min connection between ORY (arrive 0700h from PTP) and CDG T2G (departing 0950h), but there are later departures to choose from ...

Hello HT
3 hrs is enough to make this connection but if it is during the week (friday), I strongly recommend you to take the train (RER) between CDG and ORY. The AF coach is a much nicer and comfortable way to travel but in your case it's more important to secure the connection. OK, you'll not be exactly at rush hours (you'll be just after) but the traffic will still be very heavy.
So, in summary, take the shuttle bus N3 from 2G to the TGV/RER station (below the Sheraton hotel) and take the RER line B (the only one at CDG). If you have the choice take a train that doesn't stop at every stations (you'll save more minutes). At Antony, you will have to get off this train and take the OrlyVal (an automated metro which serves the 2 terminals of ORY in 7 minutes from Antony station). The connection is easy and very rapid. At ORY, AF departs from the West terminal (Orly ouest) which is the 1st stop of the Orlyval. Inside west terminal, your flight to PTP or FDF will depart from hall #3.

A last tip when you'll take your train ticket at CDG : the automatic machines accept coins (no notes) and credit cards but only those which have a chip on it (and you have to enter your PIN to validate the purchasing). If you have such a credit card, then you're OK. If not, I recommend you to have 15-20 Euros in coins in order to use the machines. Otherwise, you'll have to queue at the tickets counters and the lines can be long and very slow...

Your itinerary is very original and nice. I love it ! Enjoy

I have seen these lines on a earlier visit (a daytrip to Paris) and I opted to take the CDGVAL to Roissypole where the line moved rather fast.
