Got into some trouble regarding a M&M award booking and was hoping to find some help/advice in here:
In July 08 I have made an award booking through Lufthansa M&M for the routing MEL-AKL-HNL-AKL-MEL in Booking Class I, departure date in September 08.
Unfortunately, I had to delay my departure on short notice due to some unexpected work commitments, but the LH agent was very supportive and said it wouldn’t be a problem to fly at a later date (in this case May 09).
Now the trouble started: In September 08, the agent was not able to locate seats for the sectors AKL-HNL-AKL on Business (nor Economy) for a time period up to 11 months ahead. I intend to fly in late May 09, and no seats were visible in the system for any date she checked, even August 09. She recommended to call her once a month to see if seats become available. I have done so since then, but still no seats visible for this sector every time I called (seats on MEL-AKL / AKL-MEL were available though in both classes).
When asking what the problem was, I got told that ANZ would only release the seats on short notice, provided they are not booked out. And looking at the booking levels, I got told that the flight is already filling up quickly for May next year.
Additional trouble is that ANZ only flies twice a week to HNL. Because I intend to travel with my girlfriend, we need to make her arrangements as well (paying full fare tickets), which I can’t do unless my seats are confirmed. I have to say that the LH M&M staff was extremely helpful and supportive, but they said there is no chance to get in touch with ANZ to see when/if seats are getting released for award bookings.
Does anyone have suggestions / recommendations what to do in this case to get seats confirmed?
