RTW Routing Change: Suggestions Welcome!

Thu Jan 15, 2009 7:09 am

Hi there,

I am a lucky person. Currently I am on a AONE6 (RTW by OneWorld in First) that will end June 22nd in CPT. There I will collect my second RTW (DONE5). The route I have currently is:

CPT-LHR-DXB-LHR-BOM-BKK-CMB-SIN-PER-BRI-AKL-SYD-HNL-LAX-MIA-LHR/NBO

All very well, but I have found that next trip I do not want to race around as much as I did this one. I will take approximately 4 months for it and I would like to stay at 3 sunny destinations lying on a beach doing nothing for 3 weeks at a time.

I have to start in CPT and the LHR-DXB-LHR is also set. I will start with the rest of the trip in January. What I am no longer sure about is BOM (wanted to stay in Goa for 3 weeks in January) and CMB.

Considering I start in January I have the following questions:

1. Would you consider reversing the route and start in the Caribbean and if so where?
2. January Caribbean, February Hawaii, end of Feb Australia would lead to Asia in March/April. Where is the weather nice at that time?

Any other brilliant suggestions are most welcome. I would like to finish up in NBO, but that is possible if LHR on the way back is just transit...
Wherever you go, there you are!

Are you heading to Bari or Brisbane (BRI or BNE)? I'll assume BNE  Smile
There are plenty of Queensland beaches to relax on. The Whitsundays are stunning (see the non-av thread on Paradise Island job). Feb in Australia is fantastic. I stayed there for 6 months Jan - June a few years ago, but by June it was cooling down in the south (Melbourne, Perth). Therefore I wouldn't reverse it, but I have to admit that I don't know when hurricane season is in the Caribbean.
I am so jealous  Smile Have a good trip, and am looking forward to the reports already!
