I Love You CO, BUT....

Wed Jan 21, 2009 4:13 am

Now, I have been a loyal OnePass member since 1999, but recently I am beginning to change my mind.
Service For most part, all US legacy carriers are not so great to talk about. However, CO has managed to keep its head above the rest in a pretty good fashion so far.

Now I hope Mr. Kelner will carry this legacy by upgrading the website to make booking experience easier and more accessible with partner airlines.
Exmaples:

Flying International, forget about viewing your connecting flight seats

Flying out of NYC, NO, you must type in EWR, LGA and if you mistakenly type in JFK, you get error message (but if CO decides your return flight to be on NW connecting through DTW, then JFK will be served! Anyway), you get my point.

Why is it that CO refuses to make their website more comparative with DL and NW? I think they have a better booking service but especially DL, a lesser quality service.

Anyway, just wanted to share some comments from someone who is closing on silver elite already for the year. Oh, maybe not, I may be getting 50% of my miles from yesterday! So CO, if this is fair market game you're playing here, then I will have no problem to book on other airlines. I want to help my country's legacy's and for my international travels next month, I am so tempted to book on KL or AF and EK. Only because i find the websites more convenient for booking and search results.

Thank You

Actually, I don't get your point!

When you type in NYC the site is looking for the three-letter identifier for the airport and there is no such creature that uses NYC, that is why you end up with the message, "More than one airport matches your request. Please select an airport from the list below or enter a new city, airport or airport code", and then the list of the three airports (JKF, LGA, EWR) to select" which makes sense to me.

IIRC that didn't change with the website updates made last weekend, it has been that way for some time.

Are you speaking of connecting seats with another airline at an international airport or connecting in the U.S. such as IAH or EWR to another CO flight going international? If the later, then I have no problem with the connecting seat maps....but the seat maps were not available during the website upgrade which actually wasn't complete till sometime on the 20th.

As a loyal CO passenger for a very long time I find their website simple in just about every area except for when you want to change flights, then I've had to call the Elite line to make the change. That may have been fixed last weekend but I've not changed any flights since then.

Sorry you are having issues with CO. Hope it won't drive you to another airline where you may find a lesser service for the passenger.

Yes that's fine and dandt, but what if you want to know which airports have the route that you want as it may be easier to get to one airport than another. For example on the BA website, you can put in LON to NYC and then select dates etc and it will show you the varios airports that are possible. This is much easier than checking on one and then having to go back to check the others. It may not be too much but it is just a lot more convinient.

Yes, I mean when you want to book a flight, say to VIE , CO website dosnt show the seat map for partners carriers. NW & DL do, but like I said, I prefer CO and try my best to fly them when I can.

I think (Qantasistheway) made my other comment more clear with the LON-NYC explanation.

as for future travels, if the price is almost the same between Skyteam partners, I will simply go with the one which allows me to pick my seats right away. I know My comments are basically a couple of complaints, but I simply wonder if others have had the same experience and if so, hopefully it will reach the ears of those who can fix this issue with CO!

Thanks for your feedback

As do I- gold elite here.

Even domestic partners- Continental cannot/will not let you pick seats online for Alaska Airlines flights, for example.

Why on Earth would they invest in the upgrades, only to leave these airlines in the dust in just a few short months?
I expect a much fuller integration when CO ties up with UA late this year.

Furthermore, you DO realize that you can eliminate the cause for all your whining by simply CALLING CONTINENTAL AND ASKING FOR A SEAT? They can pick a seat for you on a partner carrier over the phone, most of the time.....
Also, sometimes the issue is with the other carrier. I know there's often trouble picking seats on Air France, but that's because Air France doesn't let CO see them, rather than some laziness on CO's part, as you kind of hint towards.

Continental will be fine without your business, or without my business. But if you enjoy flying on them as much as I do, why leave them over something as simple as pre-reserving your seat on a flight not even operated on Continental metal?

That is very strange as I picked seats on our connecting Hawaiian flights last spring and fall for our IAH-OGG trip.

Acutally, when I tried to book a flight to DEL from EWR on NW's website, it does NOT show me the seat map for the connecting KLM flight that you would board from AMS. I bet you can find exceptions to DL too. On the other hand, on CO's website,I remember being able to see the seat map of the codeshared VS flight from EWR to LHR. I realize the later example is not a connecting flight, but its still an example showing a partner airline seat map.
