I think the interesting thing is how alike JL
For example, if you look at the UK's two biggest carriers BA
or big US carriers like AA
there are a lot of differences in their products and the way they treat passengers.
For example, BA
have different business class seating. BA
offers first class but VS
does not. It's the same with UA
is installing proper flat bed seating in business class whereas AA
's angled lie-flat product (which is still being installed) is considered outdated. UA
has a quasi "premium economy" product whereas AA
has no premium economy.
But if you look at JL
they (to the outsider, at least) appear to be the same. The only difference being the livery, crew uniforms and so on.
If you look at the products offered by JL
/NH in the air and onh the ground I find that each airline carrier follows the other with something similar.
Compared with the likes of CX
both Japan's leading carriers are somewhat conservative.
