London To New York In May

With economy prices all very similar but DL at the cheapest end, what do people recommend for the best experience over the pond?

If traveling in Y, I'd recommend VS. I had a truly memorable flight coming into New York from London, couldn't say the same about the other way though.
If you don't care about IFE, then BA is also a good option. AA is another decent option, although you will have pay for booz.

So my choice would be: VS
Reason: Good IFE, Decent food, free booz, and a choice of a A346 or B747 depending on which flight you choose  Smile

Good luck and I'll be reading the trip report Big grin

Quoting Planemad (Thread starter):

DL will be introducing the 767-400ER on the LHR-JFK route starting in April for at least one of the flights (DL 4 LHR-JFK and DL 3 JFK-LHR). Unlike the current 763ERs on the route, the 764ERs will have AVOD PTVs in Economy. Drinks wise, even though they can't beat the unlimited offer of VS and BA, they at least offer one free beer or wine with the main meal in Y, which is at least one free drink more than say AA or CO....You should also get eyeshades and ear plugs in Y on DL...

From the title of your thread, I thought you were asking whether May was a good time of the year for travel to New York! Obviously, that's not your question, but I'll give you the answer anyway -- May is probably the nicest month in New York. Warm, consistent weather. No throngs of tourists yet for the summer season.

Well the flight really is not that long so it depends on what you value in flight. If A/V programming is important, then you may need to choose carefully. If you have a book to read, then price might win out. Legroom is fairly similiar (minor differences) among the carriers. There are some unique carriers on the route so you can get creative, or take a connection to try a new carrier (I've done this to try AC).

From my personal experience I have enjoyed AA, LH, SN (the old one), AC, BA, and US across the pond. I hated both flights on VS (but it's just one person's experience).
I want to live in an old and converted 727...

Well, personally, as a oneworld traveler, I like and use BA when I travel that route, so I would suggest you try it. It has never disappointed me  Smile
