Question On AA MD80 Coach

Thu Feb 19, 2009 4:41 am

Hi Everyone,

I have a quick question on AA's MD80s: Are the coach seats in all of the aircraft equipped with headrests (i.e. the "new style" seats)? I've seen pictures of some with and some without, and I'm wondering if they're refurbishing, or something else.

Thanks!

AA MD-80 coach seats have adjustable headrests.

The original AA birds do, yes. The ex-TW birds do not.

Unfortunately since the AA and ex-TW birds are all now in an identical configuration, you won't know which type you're on until you're on the plane itself. Also as far as I know, the AA-original birds are the only ones with power ports in coach, the ex-TW's don't have them.

It's been a rare event to have non winged headrests in Y on a Super 80. All ex-twa birds don't have them. But, in my experience in the schedules if your plane shows up as an "M83" you have a greater chance of getting an ex-twa machine.

I flew on an ex TWA bird that actually had the headrest.

I was shocked to see a TWA regi and get on board to see a AA interior cabin.
