BA CW Or EK F Class To HKG?

Thu Apr 02, 2009 9:45 pm

hi, next Christmas i'm going to Hong Kong from London

my options are BA CW or EK First class. the price is approximately the same (200 pounds more expensive with EK).

BA obviously offers a shorter travel time (non stop flight)

EK offers first class and A380 but a longer trip (two flights and a three hours lay-over at DXB)

what do you suggest?

What makes you tick?

If you are in a hurry: BA.

If you want to fly A380 in F: EK

There are so many arguments. Myself I would take EK because it is new and fun.

And of course you can also take EK in J and save yourself around GBP700,- that you can spend on a good hotel.  Smile

Quoting Hydargos (Thread starter):
CW

I assume you mean CX = Cathay Pacific not CW = Air Marshall Island. If the latter really flew between LHR and HKG, it would be the airline to choose ... Big grin

Serious:
All three airlines know how to fly a First Class passenger in style.
I assume you even could fly BA outbound and CX on the return (or vice versa) on one ticket, if you want to sample both products.

EK like you say has the charm of operating the A380 with its luxurious First Class. The trip is longer, but the stopover can be seen as a positive or negative thing.
When flying in Eco, it is a welcomed opportunity to stretch your legs (and arms).
When flying in First, I would see that stop as an interruption of my attempt to sleep all the way on the flight from HKG to LHR.

Therefore I would prefer the nonstop service between the two cities - and then would go for CX-metal (and hospitality), if timings are suitable.

Personally, I would do EK F (even though I find the Suites rather hideous in design) because the difference in cost is more than justified by the sheer spaciousness of the A380 F, the elaborate and much higher quality food and beverage service, the limo transfers both ends and the novelty of A380 in F.

I'm pretty sure he meant BA Club World, not BA and CX. CX F is likely much more expensive than BA CW or EK F.

Oh, I see.
Thanks for updating me.

In that case, EK First wins over BA Business Class, unless the OP prefers to sleep all the way from HKG to LHR without interruption.

It's the difference between an up to date J versus a cutting edge F, go for F! You can also experience the bar, the showers/spa and our new F lounge in T3!

That said, your F experience from DXB-HKG will most likely be in a "deeply" reclining seat, but still go for EK  Smile
