Hello there buddy...
Well, I am currently putting the finishing touches on a two-week, WELL DESERVED vacation to Thailand. Obviously, I have come here for advice on the flights....
I'll be doing LAX-BKK-LAX. The plan is to book flights to and from BKK to HKT with a LCC ( Air Asia?) for some fun in the sun
So far these are my options:
Positives: Price (obviously) for CI 5 (Dep: 3.15p Arr: 8.20p) connecting onto CI 65 (Dep 10.30p Arr: 1.05a), Short layover in TPE
Concerns: No IFE on 747, Arrives into BKK at 1.05a...foreign country and its late...dunno bout that...
(Note: To try and jump on CI7 (Dep: 1.15a Arr: 6.10a) to connect to CI 833 (Dep: 9.40a Arr: 12.20p), the price jumps up to $813. Worth it?
Positives: Ride on a A330 (AVOD), connecting thru NRT, Short layover in NRT
Concerns: The NRT-BKK leg is on a 757 (flight time 7h 25m), arriving in BKK at 12.35a, Coming back it's on a 747 (odd)
Concerns: 14 hour layover in PEK, IFE on 747 (if any?), how bareable is a 5hr flight on a 738?
Positives: New airline, IFE on their 747, known for their service, layover in NRT
Concerns : 17hr layover in NRT (there HAS to be something to do in Tokyo no?)
Positives: Its SQ ! Layover in SIN after a stop in NRT
Concerns : Do their 747s have the old Krisworld? Also, I arrive into SIN at 1.15a and depart at 8.45. Is there anything to do in SIN at that time?
Positives: 773 service, nice interiors
Concerns: What makes it so worth it?
Positives: 773 service, nice interiors, good schedules
Concerns: is the price worth it?
Keep in mind I am here for guidance, so guide me away!!
PR was listed as $1014...Sounds exotic but I am mostly concerned about the comfort. It's the Pacific we are talking about here...it looks small on a map but once you start crossing it, there is no turning back!
For the itineraries that have a long layover (such as the one proposed by SQ and Air China) what, if anything, is there to do for that period of time, it be at the airport or in the city? Me and my friend dont mind leaving the airport for a day to explore a city for a bit and come back to fly out to BKK.
I got my results through kayak.com
