Airline Lounges +priority Pass Membership

Wed Apr 08, 2009 4:23 am

i am a member of the different airline alliances but at present don't have the sufficient status to gain access to any airport lounges. I am flying to seattle, helsinki, bangkok, tallinn, barcelona and a few other places this year and i came across the "priority pass" membership that allowed access to many lounges around the world.

their website reads very well but i am wondering if there are any catches? i would be grateful for your advices if you are a member.

also is there a terminal 5 lounge at heathrow that i could use with the pass as the website says there isn't which i thought was strange?

thanks

Priority pass is a good system if u r travelling in Y and don't have elite status. However it only allows you in lounges that have contracts with them. So NO they do not have a lounge in T5 in LHR as it is for the sole exclusive use of BA...You will find any dedicated terminal for an airline will not have access for Priority Pass. So for example LHR T5-BA CDG 2E F AF. The list of airports and lounges are the ones you can access are on the website-as you found. But it can change with contracts with airlines/airports/ground service groups. Is it worth it...no, you can find one off payment groups such as servisair. also most lounges are not that great, there are only a few good lounges in the world....might as well spend the money at a fancy bar/restaurant in the terminal

Priority Pass depends on where you are. Here in the US, it's not a bad program. Pretty much every Delta, Northwest and Continental lounge is part of it, as are some American and US Airways lounges. Also, there's access to a lot of third-party lounges in Europe.

It all depends on what your travel patterns are. I have a few friends that have PP and they like what it does because they split travel between US and DL, and this gives them more options over buying a US and a DL lounge membership.

Hi there

I have been a member now for two years and am really happy with it and find it good value personally. I have used the lounges in LGW, LHR T4, MAD, FRA, GYE and soon EZE and SCL.

I guess a lot depends on how frequently you travel and then the airports you will pass through if they have lounge access or not. We have already been told about CDG and LHR T5 for example.

In terms of catches, dont really think there are to be fair. It really does do what it says on the tin. I guess the only downside is where a lounge you have access to has a cash bar (GYE for example) and then for me it looses its value slightly as you need to pay for drinks.

I think the lounge standards vary of course but then generally all have similar facilities and its better than sitting around outside bored.....my advice is to give it a try. You can cancel at any time and there is no minimum contract term.

Happy Lounging!!

Mark
