Question About My USAirways Reservations

Tue Apr 14, 2009 6:26 pm

I just read on Usatoday.com that Usairways is changing from a growth strategy to a survival strategy. I have a reservation to fly to LGA on US in July, and a reservation to fly to FLL on US in September. How worried should I be that they might not make it till either July or September?

You have nothing to worry as of right now, the economy is bad and every airline is hurting, but if the oil prices remain under $60 a barrel for the rest of the year, the major airlines (including US) will make it to the end of the year and continue to operate in 2010.

That's how I see things as of right now, but its your right to be worried.

All the US and most of the worlds airlines are pursuing a survival strategy right now. Many of them are pursuing a "shrink" strategy as they reduce capacity. The only exceptions are some small airlines such as Allegiant.
Nowadays, it is hard to tell when the commercials end and real life begins

Thank you both very much for your answers. I just worry because for years I have heard rumors that US is going under. I have always thought they had a unique ability to stay afloat. However I was wondering if this time the rumors are true.
