Singapore Airport Viewing Area

Fri Apr 17, 2009 9:11 am

Hey guys,

I have 9 hours between flights at Singapore airport end of the year. Wondering if there is
a dedicated viewing area in the terminal or outside?

With Thanks
Sam

In a nutshell no. You can get some good views from various spots in the outside areas by the bar ,pool etc , But most take off - landing views are not available. If you book into the Hotel in term 2 you may get a good view of the apron, but apart from that the next best photo op is at your gate.

Has this changed? T1 had a viewing area, and there was another outside area, T2 or T3 that had a bar (possibly advertised as a smoking area?) and I remember being able to view movements from there.

Can't see them mentioned on the airport website though..

There's an amazing viewing deck outdoors where you can see them taking off...and other parked planes...it has a lovely tropical garden...it's also right next to the cinema, though it's old films...but also next to that, is an amazing games room with BF2 Multiplayer etc. for free...it really is a great airport
here is my video of the deck

All 3 terminals have observation areas, whilst not the best, they do offer views suitable for spotting, not good for pictures though.

The T1 deck was closed for renovation when I spent a day there in Feb.

In Singapore for photography you can stay apparently at Crowne Plaza on the 7-9 floors where there is a gap where you can take photogs from, havent seen it though will be checking it out soon.

There is also Changi Business Park and Changi Beach both can give you shots of the arrivals depending on the direction of the wind. Summer = Changi Beach and WInter = CBP

I'm going back to SIN in June (third time) and I'll spend a few hours watching.

Enjoy SIN, Sam.
