LH Transit At FRA And Seating On EWR-FRA

Mon Apr 20, 2009 8:25 pm

Hey all,

I've got a friend who's flying from Newark EWR to Frankfurt on LH 403 on 5/13 (arrival on 5/14) and is continuing on to LH 174 to TXL on 5/14 - given that the transit is only 1 hour 20 minutes in FRA, will she be running into any problems?

I say this especially because the flight leaves out of EWR on the European bank of evening departures which are usually prone to ground delays, and when she lands in FRA she'll have to transfer from the non-shcengen zone to the shcengen zone. Do you think it's safe to do this itinerary without missing her connection in Frankfurt?

Also, because she's flying on a restricted ticket it's probably too late to change flights - is there anyone who can help me out with a seat assignment towards the front of the economy section of the LH B744 so that at least she can dart out of the airplane if it is delayed on arrival at FRA?

Are there any helpful tips you guys could advise so she she makes her flight? She's got a meeting to attend in Berlin and is kind of a nervous flier, so any help would be much appreciated I'm sure!

Thanks

Are the two flights booked on one ticket? If yes it wouldn't be a problem if she misses the flight as LH would rebook her on a later one.

With 1:20 in FRA I would get nervous if the flight was more than 30 minutes late.

Are both flights on one ticket? If yes, they will put her on the next flight if she doesn't make it - there are plenty of them.

Yup she's on the same ticket, and I know that she'd get booked on the next flight - just was wondering if she had reason to worry and/or to inform her people in Berlin of the potential of a late arrival...judging from your guys' replies, I guess so...

She should inform them that it "could" take an hour longer for her to arrive. When she is in FRA she can call them again and tell them if she will get her original flight or if she will be re-booked...

But i still think she will get her flight as long her TATL-flight is on-time...

Hi Freak!!!

My experience has shown that 45 minutes is good to go for a connection in FRA. The only problem is baggage, but I can certainly say LH is one of the few that would get it to her ASAP and delivered!!! I hope she has a great flight and if you want give me her File Key(reservation number) I will check to see which seats are available for her in the front of the cabin. BRGDS

Bear in mind that you must enter the Schengen area in order to transfer to TXL. This can cause delays at customs and immigration, but it can still work out.

Well EWR with all of its delay I would be a little bit worried. Flew out of EWR last week during the European bank and we were a/c 23 for take off, which meant it took us almost 45minutes till we took off.
