Sould CX Introduce A Premium Economy Class?

Fri May 01, 2009 2:27 pm

Most long haul airlines these days offer a Premium Economy product - QF, BA, VS, VA, NZ to name a few. Is it not time for CX to follow suit and introduce a Premium Economy (Y+) class to fill the broad gap between the levels offered in Y and J? I think this would be especially useful on ultra long-haul routes such as HKG-YYZ and HKG-JFK.

I don't know about everyone else, I wouldn't want to be stuck in Y for 16 hours.

On the same note, does anyone know why CX hasn't introduced one with their cabin upgrade?

I just got off a HKG-SFO CX long haul with the new Y class seats. It was only a 12 hour flight but I found the overall experience pretty good. The legroom was sufficient for me and the IFE was great. I think CX offers a decent Y class product so why would they have to offer a premium Y class? If you want more space, better service/food etc. then you can always fly business class.

Just my 2 cents.
