Aerolineas Argentinas Question

Fri May 15, 2009 6:57 am

So, I'm putting together my 2009 RTW trip, and i'd really like to fly on an A340-200, as they're so rare, so doing my looking around, i've noticed that AR flies from Syd-Akl on a day that's convenient for me, i'd be coming off of a marathon from Arn-Lhr-Doh-Sin-Syd, (the sin-syd to fly on the A380 without paying an arm, leg and kidney for the privilege) and i've noticed in the CRS and the online booking sites that AR 1182 operates with "A340," and i also know that AR flies both the -200 and -300, so the question is, if i decide to fly Syd-Akl, what are my actual chances of getting on the A340-200?

I apologize if this question is not answerable, but i just figure i'd ask the experts here before i commit to it in the hopes of not being disappointed.
Yes, I'd like to see airbus go under so Boeing can have their customers!

As far as I know AR1182/AR1183 is always a 342

I have never seen a A343 here in AKL. But, just a warning: Bring plenty of time: More often than not are the AR flights delayed or canceled. At least that has been the case when I "monitored" them for a while. Maybe a good idea is to check the AKL arrival/departure information daily... Wink I just checked for today:

Arrival:
AR1182 Buenos Aires 17 May 06:45 08:00 RESCHEDULED

Departure:
AR1182 Sydney 17 May 08:15 09:40 CHECK IN

A common sight here....:/

Cheers
