Differences Between US & US Airways Shuttle?

Tue May 19, 2009 12:48 am

I'm planning a trip to DCA and my connections might put me on a US Airways Shuttle from LGA to DCA.

Are there any major and little differences?

Also, are the safety cards tagged as US Airways shuttle lol. Really little thing lol.

So, please give me some tips  Smile

There's not a big difference. The major difference is (after 9 AM IIRC) there is complimentary beer and wine served in coach. Liquor is still for purchase in Y, free in F. There are also dedicated shuttle ticket counters, gates, and security lines.

Since the shuttle is no longer a separate division in the company there isn't really anything branded as US Airways Shuttle anymore. The aircraft are swapped between shuttle and mainline ops as well, so everything is just standard US on the aircraft.

It's a great product, though. Many of the FAs have been flying the shuttle for years and it's a pretty pleasant experience.

The only major difference I experience with the Shuttle is they don't always use the zone boarding at LGA. It's fun to watch the crowding and efforts to get on board early to ensure room for bags (which is really no different from most flights these days).

If you are connecting in LGA you may have to walk a little, but it's very simple. Shuttle flights are usually from gates 15 and up. There are complimentary magazines in the waiting area (though a limited selection). Seating is generally not a problem if you have a longer connection.

Every once in a while I get an A-319 EOW bird for the shuttle flight. They often have the duty free catalogs in the seat pocket. Passes a few minutes even if you can't buy the stuff.

Have a happy flight!

I flew the same route last feb on the 0600 flight. I got a full can of juice and a donut like snack. Check-in was at a special desk and the overall experience was real good. I loved the seats on the A319 though I don't know if those are standard on US.
