JFK To LGA - Easiest Way On Ground Transportation?

Fri Jun 26, 2009 11:30 pm

Hey all,

Just wondering, what is the easiest way to get from JFK to LGA on ground transportation?? My flight would be arriving into JFK at around 300pm and my flight out of LGA would be at 945p... so I'm just wondering if that would be even possible and if anyone has any recommended ways of getting between the two.

Thanks in advance for all responses.

Great, thanks for the link!! $13.00 is a lot better than a cab fare, no doubt. And only one hour transit time, not bad!!

The past couple of times I've taken this bus service from LGA to JFK (in the afternoon, usually around 14:00)... it has only taken 25 mins with minimal traffic. But when you're caught in traffic, it takes closer to 1 hr.

Don't bother asking for an airline emp discount either, they don't offer one.

A cab is useful if there's 2 or more people, as it usually costs $25.

Sorry you have to make the transfer; it's really annoying as there's no direct rail link to LGA. Stop by the chat when you get the chance; when are you flying? Maybe I could give you a lift  idea

I drive this route periodically, if there's no traffic it feels like the two airports are practically right next to each other. But both the Van Wyck and the Grand Central are notorious for backing up. There's about a 50/50 chance you'll hit traffic on one or both.

Would be nice if they'd extend AirTrain from Jamaica station to LGA.

For JFK-LGA, just take the Van Wyck west to the Grand Central, get on that heading west towards the Triboro, then the airport's on the right after a while. But if you don't have a car, it really sucks (taking the bus or a cab). And if you have a car... then you probably live not too far away, which would make me wonder why you're parked at the airport in the first place (especially JFK). It's just a hassle which has no good realistic solution in the near future. Maybe they could run the AirTrain underground from JFK or Jamaica to LGA... below the subways if need be. That could work; I know I would definitely be in favor of it

EDIT: And Transpac, my offer still stands. Stop by the chat, let me know  checkeredflag

take the Q3 bus from JFK to 188 St & Hillside Ave
then take the Q17 to Main St & Roosevelt Ave
then take the Q48 to LGA
if u have a lot of time on your hands
Main St has a lot of different asian restaurants to eat at

A cab is the easiest way and only about $50.

If you really want to have some fun
Take the Chopper to the 34th St. heliport
Walk about 6 blocks to the 33rd st station and take the "6" subway to 51st station
then connect to the "E" Train to Jackson Heights/ Roosevelt Ave Station
then the Q33 Bus to LGA

Only about 1h 30m

Several years ago, I was based in JFK. I used to commute into LGA and there were several limo services (Lincoln Town Car) that would run from LGA-JFK. For the life of me, I can't remember who I used but it was very convenient and not expensive. Try doing a search.

Don't forget that this bus goes to every terminal at both airport (based on what I am seeing on that website). So at JFK you are looking at 6 or 7 stops (they won't stop at T6, I don't know if they would combine T2/3). Factor in the potential of a big old mess on the Van Wyke (I hate that damn road with a passion, I go out of the way and take the CIP up to GCP) and 1 hour is not that bad. They really need to extend the airtrain from Jamaica to LGA. That would make things a lot easier for folks that have to do the NY airport shuffle!!!
