Turkish Airlines To Toronto

Tue Jul 07, 2009 3:15 am

Hey guys,

I had posted a few weeks ago about my proposed trip to Dubai. We'll I never did book those LH flights because of the old 747 being used on the FRA-DXB route. Now I see TK is coming to YYZ as of July 11th and their fares are pretty good. They are using the A330-200 which is my favourite aircraft so im probably going to end up booking with them, and stopping in IST for a few days. My question is, has any of you flown on their A330 and how comfortable and safe are they for such a long flight? I am kind of skeptical to book them just incase their loads dont pick up and they pull the route before Christmas. Anyone know their booking loads or has access to a GDS to check flights that are up coming?

Thanks

Regards

Hey I just flew JFK-IST on the TK 332, very nice indeed. Very comfortable, nice AVOD, great food and tons of it, young fleet. Safe for a long trip??? If you mean is TK safe to fly long distances, the answer is yes, simple as that. Just go to their website and you can see where they fly and their fleet.
About the YYZ route, TK has been asking to fly there for many years and trust me TK will be there for long time to come. Expect it to go daily when they have equipment available. I have a feeling in two years it will be a 77W route daily.

Hey guys,

thanks for the info. I just went ahead and booked the entire trip to Instanbul and Dubai. So we are flying with Turkish and also Emirates. TK 787 I booked my flights on expedia but was unable to pre select seats, were you able to do this with your turkish flights? If so how did you do it?

Quoting BWIA330 (Reply 3):

As far as I know, you can do this during online check-in, which is 24 hours in advance at TK's website. It works fine.
You might be able to call TK and get seat assignments 3 months prior to departure, but not sure on that one.
Also if you need info about certain seats, go to seatguru.com and find which seats suit you better on TKs 332s.

Bon Voyage

Hey TK787,

I called up the local Turkish Airlines office here in Toronto today and they said to call them back about 2 months before to pre select the seats. Its to early. So I guess I will wait until then. Im glad your giving me good feedback on the airline, and I am excited to fly with them. Do you know if the A340's have all been re done with the new interior. I am hoping they dont change from the A330 to A340 on the Toronto route, but it is a possibility.

No guarantees on the 330/340 choice I am afraid. TK CEO said today 77Ws can't be used on the route.
According to my records 6 out of 7 owned TK 340s have the new interiors. 2 ex-JM 343 have totally different interiors and no PTVs and I am not sure if they will ever get a facelift since they will leave the fleet in 2014. Also 2 out of the 7 332 fleet are leased and not sure about the PTVs inside but they have more seats so less pitch.
In my opinion even though the 332 is newer, my flight back IST-JFK was on a 343 and the pitch is better, and felt a bit roomier.

Good luck and enjoy your trip.

Hey TK787,

Thanks for the info. Either A330 or A340, they are both great aircraft once they have the new seats and IFE systems im happy lol.
