How Do I Get From Toronto Or New York To Winnepeg?

Tue Jul 07, 2009 3:06 am

How do I get from Toronto or New York to Winnepeg? What's the cheapest airline I can take? And how long does it take?

Possible to go by bus/train? How much/long?

Use Air canada or Westjet from Toronto. 2-230 hour flight. It takes approx 30 hours or more by bus.

Do not take the Greyhound Bus it's painfully long and you could lose your head. On the other hand,if you have the time it's a nice train ride. If you're flying from New York then you'll have to connect somewhere along the way. MSP ORD and YYZ would be the most logical. As far as cheapest,it's probably best to just price it out online or if you're an airline employee then that will vary depending on the interline agreements you have with AC UA and DL / NW.

Since you're from Hong Kong, I'm guessing you're trying to take CX to YYZ to JFK then connect to Winnipeg ? I would think connecting via YVR would be much closer and faster (no back-tracking). But then again, I'm just guessing.

Which "they" are you referring to? If you mean interline, that depends. If you are an employee of UA then it's as easy as flying HKG UA ORD UA YWG,or if you happen to be in NYC then LGA UA ORD UA YWG. Not sure if AA still operates ORD YWG.

If I were you:

Coming from HKG, head to YVR or YYZ (whichever is cheaper) and then hope on either Air Canada or Westjet. Going into the states will only make it more expensive.

If you are already in the YYZ, JFK area: head to YYZ, it's your cheapest bet.
Contact Winnipeg center now on 134.4, good day.

You can take Wesjet or AC from EWR-YYC and connect on a flight to YWG

I will be flying to Chicago and Charlotte first. Then Fort Lauderdale for a nice swim. Then I shall go on a cruise to Costa Rica, Panama, Mexico and back to Fort Lauderdale. Then I shall fly to Toronto. Then I shall take a bus to New York (any value for money bus you recommend?). Then I shall fly all the way to London for 10 days. Afterthat I shall fly back to New York and head back to Toronto. From Toronto I would like to fly to Winnepeg to visit a friend before I head back to Hong Kong via Tokyo (to visit friends).

I have just made it 1K

Big grin I was expecting to read this the moment I read the title.

If you have the luxury of a 36 hour train ride take via rail. A discounted one way ticket will set you back by about $350. But it is one heck of a ride. The train leaves Toronto's Union station. But IIRC it does not run daily.
Bring back the old site.
