I'd go EK if you have a choice.

If possible, definately try and book on a flight number that continues to the states, well worth it.

I am not surprised that they took it off the route though, I was one of only 4 pax upstairs.
Quoting NZ107 (Reply 4):
mainly because they treat New Zealand rather similar to a domestic flight (use of domestic configured 763s etc).
Quoting Kent350787 (Reply 12):
Let's not forget that flight to NZ are shorter than quite a view Oz domestic services
Quoting Kiwiandrew (Reply 13):
correct , until later in the year when the 734 gets replaced by 73H , if I am not mistaken .
Quoting Kent350787 (Reply 16):
I'm not defending QF compared to its opposition products, just making the point that there are Oz state/territory capitals further from SYD/MEL/BNE than NZ destinations
Quoting NZ107 (Reply 17):
I know, but I do think that QF have got the logic wrong in this case. Many people believe that international flights should be treated differently - NZ has done a lot to differentiate its international service from its domestic one and so their product over the Tasman has never been better and QF is about a year and a half behind in updating their product.
