AF95. How To Get A Seat In The Upper Deck?

Mon Jul 27, 2009 4:14 pm

I'll be on AF95 MIA-CDG in August. I chose this flight because 747s are hard to find on trans-Atlantic flights from the US. AF uses the upper deck for econ pax. How can I get a seat up there? When I made the booking back in June the seating chart on AFs website showed all the seats were taken. I heard somewhere AF reserves those seats for elite members. I'm Silver with DL would that qualify? Should I contact AF directly or are the seats truly gone. Do I have a chance just being a Silver cardholder? The seating chart is showing the main cabin to be quite full already.

Any tips?

I flew the same route this winter but was unsuccessful in getting a seat on the upper deck. However, a young lady approached me on the plane and asked me if I wanted to switch seats with her. When I asked where her seat was, she said it was upstairs

It was a middle seat but with 36 inches of seat pitch and s small PTV, I was perfectly fine... I hope you too can succeed...

Good luck....

Hello everyone,
That is one of my favourite flights! One day prior to departure, rows 61-64on the UD open up and 65-69 open up for a fee. I would suggest taking one seat between 61-64 and then if empty move to the last row. Row 69 has great leg room and recline. Hope that you have a great flight!

Flew on this one from CDG to SFO back in November... it is very nice... lots of legroom and well... it's the upper deck... really nice... plus you have additional storage if you are by the window...
