Help With Hotels In LA And Hollywood/Beverly

Thu Aug 06, 2009 11:16 pm

Hi All

This posting is for two work colleauges, 2 girls in their mid 20s off to LA/Hollywood and Beverly Hills.

Im after some recommendations for 3-4 star properties in this area, friendly surrounds for 2 mid 20's gals, and close to public buses and on the sightseeing route ...so to speak !

Any suggestions greatly appreciated !

Cheers

Budget ? Location drives the price just as much as the number of stars in the LA area.

Yes budget is a key... Are we talking about $150 night or $600?
There are money dozens of properties in the Westside, Hollywood and Beverly Hills area.

Also pretty much goes without saying they will most likely require a car to get around widely. We're not much on public transport here while taxi's can be costly. Without a car one is somewhat stuck inside individual neighborhood enclaves.

I would suggest taking a look at TripAdvisor to start with. It lists hotels in order from best to worst in the LA area based on user reviews. You can also input the dates and price range to filter the search.

I found the Holiday Inn Express in Hollywood pretty good. It is where the 101 cuts through the Hollywood Hills. Details are:

3241 CAHUENGA BLVD
LOS ANGELES, CA 90068

Close to most important sites and only a few minutes to the Mulholland Drive across Hollywood Hills.

If they want to stay at a Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Crowne Plaza, InterContinental, etc, you can use the Friends and Family discount which knocks off a good amount from the normal rate. This employee is making it available for the public.

Personally I would stay away from the grimier Mid City/Hollywood areas and instead focus on staying in either the immediate Beverly Hills area(if you can afford it), or more towards the beach on the Westside in communities like Santa Monica.
