Longest Regularly Scheduled Flight

Fri Aug 07, 2009 12:38 am

I am flying from YYZ-HKG in a couple of weeks - this flight is times at 15h20mins, however last time I flew this route it was an hour longer than this.

It got me wondering, what is currently the longest scheduled flight...I realize this is not it but it must be up there...

Have a look at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_longest_flights#Longest_flights
for a list of the longest flights in order. Yours is 14th, behind LAX-MEL.

It's tied for the 16th longest scheduled flight, but it's the 14th longest scheduled route, as 2 ahead of it have 2 daily (or 1 daily by two airlines).

I think he may be referring to flight time, while the Wiki article sorts it by distance. Doing a rough count, It looks like there are actually 22 flights longer (by time) than AC's YYZ-HKG.
Last Flight(s): YYJ-YVR-YYZ-YHZ Next Flight(s):

going by that list if AC were to ever service YVR-MEL it would become their longest non-stop and easily in the top 10 - edging near 16 hours based on 15h25m YVR-SYD.

über-long haul.

SQ21 is at 18h50m or so....and its an all business class A345 with only around 100 seats I think.

The 3rd longest was previously IAD-JNB at 17hrs but now they go via DKR - although the DKR stop swapped from JFK to IAD so JFK-JNB must be around 16h30m or 17h...?

The 77L has the record for a commercial airliner although not scheduled going Hong-Kong to LHR at 22h40m...not sure what I would do with myself on a flight that long haha.

And probably not factored to give a still air equivalent. Examples are LAX-TPE which can be as much as +17%, converting a 6000nm GC distance to a 7000nm ESAD. SFO-HKG is about +15% whereas JFK-HKG is only about 4% at 7400nm ESAD because of its trans polar track. I believe you need to look at westbound flight times to make comparison's between different city pairs.

1.) SQ 021 SIN-EWR 18hrs 50min a345
2.) SQ 037 LAX-SIN 18hrs 05min a345
3.) TG 795 LAX-BKK 17hrs 30min a345
4.) DL 185 ATL-BOM 17hrs (canceling due weak demand)
5.) EK 215 DXB-LAX 16hrs 35min 77L
6.) QR 077 DOH-IAH 16hrs 30min 77L
7.) EK 211 DXB-IAH 16hrs 20min 77L
8.) DL 201 JNB-ATL 16hrs 15min 77L
9.) EK 225 DXB-SFO 16hrs 77L
10.) CX 831/841 JFK-HKG 16hrs 77W

That's the top (10) as you can see in terms of PFT (physical flight time) enjoy!  yes

I think once AC gets 787's then I have heard that both YVR-BNE and YVR-MEL are possibilities for future flights.
