First Time On US, A319, 321, & CO EMB 145

Fri Aug 07, 2009 3:04 pm

Hey guys,

I am going on a quick trip with my girlfriend and some friends at the end of the month. Im flying to LAX, but instead of flying from my home airport of YYZ, I decided to drive to BUF, and save some money. For a 4 day trip to LAX, flight+hotel it's costing me a mere $350 CDN, $200 less than I would be paying from YYZ. Plus I always aim to choose the aircraft type I havent flown yet. Anyways, this is my routing flying in Y:

BUF-PHL US A319
PHL-LAX US A321

LAX-CLE CO 738
CLE-BUF CO E145

This will be my first time on US, CO, a A319, a A321. and a EMB145. What can I expect from these airliners, in terms of quality and service?

Any advice is appreciated

How tall are you? If over 180cm or so, expect to duck in the 145. It's a decent ride, though, and the A seats are really nice if you're traveling alone.

The US Airbii won't be especially memorable except for some distinct Airbus sounds heard on taxi and takeoff, especially if you're sitting over the wing (if you've ridden a 320, they're the same sounds).

US is fair. You'll get free soda. PHL is a pretty nice airport but prone to w/x delays.

Sorry to ask but what are w/x delays?

I was quite surprised there will be no IFE on the US flights.

Thanks

I'm 6'4" and I survived the Barbie Jet, although I was in an exit row. The CRJ seems big until you sit down. The ERJ seems horribly tiny until you sit down and is then quite reasonable.

There is IFE haha. Your FA, IF Magazine, and anything else you bring  Wink.

As Cubs said, PHL is very delay prone. How long is your layover?

For the E145, grab a seat on the left side of the aircraft as the config in these jets are 1-2. This way you get the window and can stretch into the aisle a bit.

My layover in PHL is 80 minutes. Is that enough time?

It should be. Good time to get some food maybe and also walk the Philadelphia Marketplace connecting Con B and Con C.

Oh, and your IFE will be your FA, IF Magazine, and anything else you bring.  Smile

Pretty much like all the other majors, nothing to write home about except for the one or two in between who are pretty. Coveted routes generally have senior folk. But most importantly you are going with your gf, so behave.. Big grin
