Quick question for any UA flyers/insiders...
I'm fying TPA-ORD-YVR (& back, same routing) in October (actually start my trip GCM-TPA on KX but that's beside the point).
Anyway, I booked the UA flights with my AC Aeroplan points - which was great. But, the Aeroplan rep I was speaking with on the phone mentioned that she cant book me any specific seats - she can only request window/aisle. I'd have to call United directly to book seats.
So...I did just that.
As I was booking my seats, the UA res agent informed me that there were no seats available together in Economy that included a window on the ORD-YVR-ORDvflights. (IE: If we wanted a window, my wife & I would have to be split up).
As a solution, she asked if I'd be interested in upgrading to Economy Plus where we COULD sit together & get a window. When I inquired about the price, she told me that I could book Economy Plus on the ORD-YVR-ORD legs for $35 per person each way. That seemed reasonable to me seeing as it was a 4 hour flight - so I did.
After doing so, out of curiosity...I went on to United.Com and looked up the seat map for my flights, and saw that there were MULTIPLE empty seats in economy on all legs of my trip, and that there were a bunch of different rows that my wife & I could sit in that included a window seat on the ORD-YVR-ORD legs, that I was told were unavailable.
I instantly thought "Did I get swindled into upgrading to Economy Plus"?
Were the Seat Maps on the UA flights not accurate?
I still don't know the answer to either of those questions, and I probably SHOULD look into it - but I really don't have the time or patience.
My main question (sorry to be so long-winded) - How is Economy Plus on UA? Are the seats THAT much different than regular economy seats? I'll be on a 320 ORD-YVR and a 319 YVR-ORD.
Any thoughts, info is appreciated!
