CX J/F Seats/Service

Sun Aug 16, 2009 6:58 am

Hello All,

I'm looking at doing a rather round about way of getting to CNS this Spring, and the only airline with availability for an AAdvantage Award ticket is CX. I'm looking at flying AUS-DFW-SFO-HKG-CNS.

The SFO-HKG segment would be in F (744), and the HKG-CNS in J (33B). Does anyone have any experiences with these flights, and what to expect in terms of the seats/service?

I haven't actually seen a picture of the new CX suite in F. Are they installed on all planes (per a TR, all but 4 had been as of January)? I haven't seen any TR with them, either. If so, could you provide a link.

It's kinda hard to sort through all of the different configurations, so I'm not entirely sure what I'd be getting on the A330 (it's the 2-cabin, new long-haul product plane). Can anyone clarify, and possibly show me a picture?

Other than that, just general impressions. Is CX a reasonably good carrier up front? Anything else I should know before I book it?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Cameron

You don't have much to worry about. They were rated no.1 last year by skytrax, and no. 2 in this one about meals in F which I coincidentally just had posted onto another thread:

Also their lounge in HKG is ranked no. 1 worldwide.

There's plenty of pics if you google. Here's one:

I am guessing you have already looked into QF and they have no flights available for mile redemptions? SFO->SYD->CNS would be a lot shorter in flight duration than SFO->HKG->CNS, plus with more connections. I haven't flown with CX J for a while (although I will this coming November) and never on F, but they should be as good as a lot of the top carriers.

Thanks for the info, guys! Does anyone have a seat recommendation for CX F on a 747? Obviously, this is subject to much change, but which side will offer me the best probability of of seeing Hong Kong coming in to land, based on normal arrival patterns from the West Coast and normal winds?

Thanks!

Seat Guru recommends 3A or 3K for the most space.
