Where To Sit On The DH1?

Tue Aug 25, 2009 12:30 pm

Hello a.net,

Well, I am heading home tomorrow and flying BWI-YYZ on AC Jazz. Where would be the best place for me to sit so I can get good shots out of the windows for departure and landing? I know this seems simple, but seastguru.com didn't really help as I don't want to have the prop and gear box in the way of my shots.

Thanks for any help,

YYZRWY23

Get a row as close to the front as possible, the first two being best.
Further aft, first the props might be an obstacle and further aft, the hot exhaust from the engines will blur pictures.

I have a differing recommendation, but depends on what flight you're booked on because of seat availability.
If you are flying AC7933 I recommend 1A and 9A. Both are showing as available to assign.
If you are flying AC7935 9A and 9F are available. Quieter ride in row 9 away from props.
Row 9 is positioned aft of engine nacelle and offers the best straight out view. Not sure the exhaust from top rear of engine at that seat would be a problem. 1A has tight leg room and very near prop which is prominent beginning at row 2, but kind of OK for photo's.
You've got a nice long ride in the Dash tomorrow - I hope you enjoy the ride!

I was able to nab 9A! Big grin Now I am hoping for a RWY 23 arrival to snap pics of my house.

I always enjoy Dash rides. Better than a CR2, or any other RJ  duck , ecept for the 175 and 190.

Where were you able to get this load info? I would be very interested if you are able to give that source.

Thank you both for your help!

All of these benefits to 9A/9F, *and* if you are lucky to have the seats beside you empty, the 5 seats across the back of the airplane cabin make a nice bed!

9A or 9F are always my first choice when I fly in a 37 seat Dash 8.

That was my first thought, but this a/c appears to have a very high LF, no other seats available.  Sad

I simply looked up flights by date and seat map on aircanada.com
I don't think you'll be disappointed in 9A, and hope you get the right approach for that home shot.
Let's hear about your ride when you get home. Have fun, be safe.
