How To Get On An Aeroflot Il-96

Mon Sep 07, 2009 10:50 am

I'd like to fly on an Aeroflot Il-96 around November and try to find, preferably international, flights.
I heared they still fly to Hanoi, Vietnam but when I checked dates in November 09 it are all 767s. On which routes are they used?
nobody has ever died from hard work, but why take the risk?

They go back to BKK all the time, I was going to book it last year but ended up going with a different airline.

I flew an SU IL9 in 2001 or thereabouts on SVO-DEL. Great experience! Even had coming-off carpet! lol.

Sorry, but they seem to have wiped them off their schedule. I vaguely remember that was supposed to happen at the end of the season but either I am wrong or they've done it prematurely.

To the best of my knowledge the last route standing was SVO BKK but it seems to be 330 now. All other long-haul ones (even Far East Russia) have gone to either 767 or 330.

IRC there were talks about the IL9s being withdrawn at the end of the summer-schedule, so that might be the answer. And they have a couple of more A330s on the way at the last part of the year, so it seems like a reasonable explenation.  Sad
