Boeing 737 Around The World - Help Needed

Tue Oct 27, 2009 11:02 pm

Good evening,

now I have been planning this for years and it seems like the day has come: 737 all around the world. I have done quite some homework, worked out many possible routes. The idea is to touch every continent (well save Antarctica) on a trip lasting max three weeks, flying only on 737s. Maybe you can help me with your ideas on what might be an interesting routing. The tricky bits really seem to be the Transatlantic section, as Privatair seems to have stopped flying ZRH-EWR, and the Pacific, although I know it can be done. Please let me know your ideas on fancy routings, nice stops worth spending a day or two or whatever else you can think of! THanks for your time!

That's not correct. LX schedules still show the Privatair service ZRH-EWR-ZRH.

Might be worth seeing if FlyGlobespan have any Transatlantic flights scheduled with their 737-800s. It's been a regular event in the past, but tbh around December it's unlikely that the fleet will be so heavily utilised that they have to resort to this in the scheds.

You could also try to fit ANA's Moscow-Tokyo service into your trip; it's served with what are probably going to be the only two 737-700ERs ever built. They are not classed by Boeing as BBJs, unlike all the other extended range -700s.

Across the Pacific I would recommend CO Micronesia -- 738 service from HNL to GUM (5 stops!) and beyond to Japan, BNE, MNL.

I suggest you take at look at airline route mapper ( http://arm.64hosts.com/ ) -- It's got most scheduled routes, along with airline and equipment listings from all airports worldwide.

Air Pacific fly NAN-HNL using a 738. They also fly the 738 to AKL and SYD from NAN. QF and DJ fly 738s across the Tasman. To head back up to Asia, you could fly DJ SYD-DPS or GA PER-CGK. Polynesian Blue also operate 738s around the South Pacific. You could also fit in a few domestic flights in NZ and Australia. 733/4/7/8s service this area.

Then you have Westjet or Alaska to get you from North America to HNL.

Very interesting i must say! I wish I had the money to do fun things like that!

It's all about the destination AND the journey.
