Dalian International Airport Transfers?

Wed Oct 28, 2009 1:24 pm

Hi!

I am looking at going to Japan in January and Air China is the cheapest option on *A.
Now it would have a connection in Dalian (DLC).
My question is, is there a sterile transfer area there or will I have to obtain a transfer visa for China?
I am assuming that PEK does have such an area...

Thanks a lot!

Hiroshima. The itinerary is HIJ-DLC-PEK-FRA-FMO.

Is the HIJ-DLC-PEK portion a single flight on the same aircraft, or would you be transferring to a domestic flight at DLC? If the latter, it doesn't matter if there is a sterile area, since you would need to leave it in order to board the domestic segment anyway--a sterile transit area only works if you are transferring between two international flights. If it's a single flight, it may be possible for you to stay on the aircraft, but the problem is that once you land in PEK it would be difficult to separate international transit pax (i.e., you) from regular domestic pax who boarded in DLC. It's worth checking with the airline, but unfortunately I think you will need a visa.

Yeah, it's a continuous flight with the same flight number.
But you are right, it is probably best to give Air China a call.
