Is Seat Guru Accurate With Wing Position?

Sun Nov 01, 2009 8:26 pm

I am flying QF 12 LAX-SYD and then QF73 SYD-SFO in a couple days.

Is Seat Guru accurate where they show the wing placements?

I've got a window seat, but I really want to avoid being over the wing, (no matter how curvy and majestic it may be on the A380).

Anyone know if row 59 on the A380
or 66 on the 744

is over wing?

Thanks!

You can also consult "seatexpert.com" but it appears row 59 on the A380 is square on the wing. Move further back. Ask for rows 75 and higher as wing is so big it will obscure a view down. Try for row 80. Look up some trip reports on here that give some great views of the wing and cabin layouts. A trip report mentioned how great seat 80A is with no seat in front of you.
Row 66 on the 744 is far enough back you're past the trailing edge of the wing.
Great airplane rides regardless. Enjoy your trip, and know many of us are envious!

Thanks Thomas, that's good input.

I will move further back on the A380 and stick to what I got on the 744.

Had not seen seatexpert, they do include whether the wing blocks the view or not, nice!
