Routing Advice : LAX-DXB

Sun Nov 15, 2009 1:15 am

Hey Everyone!

Just looking for a little advice, so I'm heading back to KBL which means having to fly into DXB to catch my flight. But I wanted to ask everyone for some advice, I wanted to try something unique. Anyone know if there are any decent routings through Asia maybe? Or trying some unique airlines other than UA for instance through IAD or DL through ATL?

I am looking at the routing LAX-DXB ... let me know what you guys think!!! Or if you know of any carrier through Asia that generally offers some really good fares on this routing as odd as it would be.

cheers!

I'd personally avoid Delta, but then again I don't think very highly of any US carrier, especially not in comparison with, well, basically anyone else in the civilised world. Don't rate EK too high either, and I certainly wouldn't fancy 16+ hours on the direct LAX-DXB on a 777.

You could do LAX-HKG-DXB on CX, but I don't know if they're cheap or not. If you're really adventerous you could try LAX-SIN-ATH-DXB with SQ and EK, but you might have second thoughts about that as you overfly DXB and realise there's another 4 hours to ATH, and then 5 hours back again to DXB.

I'd personally prefer to break it down in 3 legs, something like LAX-JFK-VIE-DXB on UA/OS. Numerous other options via Europe; LAX-JFK-FRA with LH or ZRH with LX from JFK onwards, or LAX-EWR-CPH-DXB with SK from EWR onwards would be my preferences. Alternatively LAX-FRA-DXB with LH all the way. But I guess you're more interested in going East (against the prevailing winds ....) so that won't help you much.

What about:

MH through KUL

LX through ZHR

AB through DUS

Or even Aeroflot through SVO

What about EK non-stop LAX-DXB?

Or more interestingly, you can do LAX-YYZ-DXB, with the latter leg on the EK A380 (which flies 3 times a week).

Though I wish my company were more receptive to flying LAX-HKG-DXB.... it doesnt look like its going to happen which is a shame!

You guys know off the tops of your head or through actual knowledge of any flights that arrive into Europe early and then the continuation to Dubai departs very late in the evening?

Though BA has excellent connecting flights they also have an early arrival into LHR and a late departure out of LHR to DXB... so 9 or so hours in London would be interesting... maybe there's something in ZRH? CDG? FRA? SVO?

Sure do. TK JFK-IST arrives in the morning, and there's a very late night night onwards to DXB. LX (ZRH) and LH (FRA) depart around noon for DXB, but maybe EK got a later one - don't know.
