AA To BA Connection At Boston

Sun Jan 03, 2010 9:31 pm

I will be flying MIA-BOS-LHR-BCN on Wednesday. I was just wondering if anyone has any tips for making a 50min connection for my BA BOS-LHR flight. I know I have to swtich terminals is there a shuttle? Will walking be faster?
Also I know I will have to transfer from T5-T3 in LHR, I have never been to LHR before is there a train?
Thanks for the help

At BOS, there is a shuttle that goes stops at each terminal (in a circular route). Runs every 5 minutes or so, about a 5 minute ride. I'd guess walking would not be faster, especially since getting to Terminal E is a bit of a hassle.

It's going to be very tight either way - 50 minutes and having to reclear security could be problematic. Any delay out of MIA could result in misconnecting, so if that does happen and you're on the ground in Miami, I'd try to get rebooked onto a MIA-LHR nonstop instead.

I arrive at 7:15 and depart at 8:20pm I know it will be a tight connection. I have a front of the plane seat and I have status with AA so I will be able to get through security quickly hopefully. This flight was just about my only option to get to BCN under $1400 at the time. I have a good friend who lives in the Boston Area I told him to be on stand by for me to spend the night in BOS if something where to happen. But yes if there is a delay on the ground in Miami there will be three MIA-LHR flights two with BA one with AA taking off after my flight. But hopefully everything will be okay. Weather looks good on Wednesday for the East Coast so as long as the 757 is running well I should be okay.

I am very worried that my luggage will be a day behind me though. I have made sure to put extra clothes for two days in my carry on.

The luggage shouldn't be a huge issue - that's more than enough time for an airside transfer

The elite security line might not be available - last I recall it was only for First/Business Class passengers and elite cards didn't qualify.

The good news is that international departures at BOS tend to dry up quickly after 800p - there's a Swiss flight and maybe an Icelandair flight, so security shouldn't be too horrible.

Good to know that hopefully the line wont be too big. If the line is large I could care less if they do not allow elite on the line I will be skipping that line to make my connection.

I will get priority baggage so you should be right. I am just worried that there are almost no connections on a MIA-BOS flight I feel like they just might notice it needs to get to BA. But Im sure it should be fine.
