Your First Ever Flight, As A Passenger

Fri Jan 22, 2010 4:03 am

Just thought I would share, if you would like to, feel free.

Mine was on an Air Midwest Cessna 402, between HUT and ICT. It was in June 1975, and I was 6 months old.
I love the smell of jet fuel in the morning

Summer 1971 - MKC-DAL on a Braniff 727, then DAL-ABI on a Texas International Convair. Flew the return a week later. I was 7 1/2 at the time. I remember the takeoff out of MKC flying South out over the Missouri River, with downtown right there. Then, as my dad walked us through DAL to our TI gate, I thought it was the most incredible place I had ever seen.

BNA-OWB (hence my name on this forum) on an Air Kentucky Beechcraft 99 in January, 1976. I was 15 months old. Upon landing, my mom was horrified to discover that my diaper had leaked - resulting in a very large wet area on the seat!

I was all of 24 years when I stepped into my first flight  Smile
It was an SQ 747 "Megatop", from MAA --> SIN --> LAX in 1998.
I am glad that my first flight was on a classy airline (albeit in economy), and made me the aviation enthusiast that I now am. Had it been on AI or something, I might have sworn off flying for good  relieved

My first flight(s) were both on the same day with two different airlines, both of which are not around any longer. It was May 12, 1983, and I was in 6th grade. Our class flew to Sacramento for the day to visit the state capitol and see the state government. The flights were:

Wow! You got to fly for a class field trip? Where I grew up the "rich schools" were the ones that got nice chartered buses for their field trips, as opposed to the regular school buses we had to ride in.

My first flight was to see my sister in San Francisco. We flew from San Diego to SFO on PSA. I think the trip was summer of 1966. We took the Coastal Starlight -- still a pre-Amtrak overnight sleeper service -- to Los Angeles. We changed to Oceanside and took a city bus to our house in Vista.

Mine was flying SJO-PTY back in September 1987, in the middle of the Noriega dictatorship. I was barely 4 years old. What I'm yet to figure out is whether it was on a CM 737, or on an LR 727, I'm just not sure about that.

I was too young to remember my first flight. It's really a shame, as it was into SXM.

The first flight I can remember is on an Air Nova BAe-146-200 flying EWR-YHZ. Children were invited to the cockpit in-flight, and I even got to change the heading!  hyper

I *think* it was a -300, but could have also been a -200 or -500. Does anyone know which one it would have been. I've looked but can't find any info on what UA was flying during their brief return to Midway at that time.

Christmas 1976. I was 5 and my brother had just been born and so I was shipped off with my Aunt who flew with me to my grandparents in Nelson.

We flew on NAC (National Airways Corp) - domestic airline prior to being merged with Air New Zealand

Boeing 732 between HLZ and WLG and then a F27 between WLG and NSN

I will always remember this as the Flight Attendants let me hand out the boiled lollies to all the pax on the plane...1 for you 2 for me...  silly

In 1983, I was 5 years old and I few with my family from YYZ to NAD (Nadi, Fiji, not sure about the code) on a CP Air Dc-10. I'm sure we had a stop in HNL, but not sure if there was a prior one in Vancouver, or LAX. Anyone have an idea of the routing back then? Later in 1989, my family and I did the same trip on Air Pacfic with a definite stopover in LAX, but not sure about the first time. Anyways, vintage aircraft, vintage airline. That's my claim to fame.

I was a teenager in 1970 when I flew a DC-8-63 of Capitol International Airways from JFK - NAS. I was scared s___tless, which is funny because 300+ flights later, I fly without a care in the world -- except for legroom. And food.

Swissair from Hamburg to Zurich, propbably in 1989, maybe 1990. However, as I was barely two years old I can't remember a thing, apart from the fact that I recieved a little green (!) Swissair Cessna-like toy plane which still has to be around somewhere at home...

Aircraft type was propably a F100 or MD81, but who knows...

July 1976 AC KIN-YYZ. My guess is it was a DC8. I don't think AC flew the 707 to KIN. My seat was 6A. Why I remember that, I do not know.

The first I can remember was on a Delta 757-200 from MCO-JFK in the late '90s. One thing I remember quite well was the pealing paint on the nose when I was sitting at the gate looking out the window at the plane.

If only I was into aviation as much then as I am now... I used to be quite afraid of flying when I was young. Now I cherish having had the opportunity to fly with the classic widget.
