I find myself halfway amused and halfway disgusted. Checking airfares tonight I noticed an interesting trend. If I checked any combinations of flights with a stop in them, the airfare for each leg of the flight would go up each time if any new combination shared any legs with the old combo. I was writing prices down as I went along, and catching onto this, went back and checked my first, original combination, and found that within a span of 10 minutes the airfare had risen $300!
And all of this was on AA. Are they using a robot on their site to artificially hike airfares the more you check a route? I think thats pretty shady at best and makes me reluctant to give them any business at all.
Are there any other airlines that pull this little trick on their websites?
