Questions About DL Nonrev Policy And Priority

Sun Feb 07, 2010 3:37 am

Hey all,

I have a few questions for those of you wise in the ways of DL nonrevving.

1) If you are traveling on an S3 but are traveling with one buddy pass and they are listed on the same PNR, do you both travel at S3 or S4 priority??

2) Do retirees still get high-priority travel pass allotments?? S2 or S2B?? Do their dependents??

3) If you check in as an S2 for a flight that is full but do not get a seat on the flight, is your S2 still deducted??

Thanks in advance for all help & responses!!

I'm not sure about question 2, but...

You'd travel at the lowest priority in the PNR, which would be the S4.

The S2 is deducted only when you fly. If the flight is full, they'll move you to the next one with the same S2 priority. If you decide not to fly all together, even after you've checked in for the flight, you won't loose the S2.

Really?
With USAir, if a buddy pass is on the same PNR as an employee they travel as the same priority as the employee, SA3. If the same buddy travels with another person on the term pass, the person on the term pass travels as SA4, and the buddy is trapped with SA9.

David is absolutely right....you revert to the lowest priority. Not usually a big deal but can certainly be an issue out of HNL where it's not uncommon to see 80 non-revs or so on a flight. And the agents there don't take very kindly to requests to sit together if you're not on the same PNR.

Unfortunately not...retirees and their dependants ONLY get S3Bs. S2s are left for the active employees and travel companions.

David is again correct...S2 is only used if you fly.

For an employee with 2 years seniority and who doesn't mind checking in 4 hours before their flight...yea, AA has a great policy. And I have to admit I do like the extra service charge for First or Business class (less competition for first class seats to Hawaii with that family of 6).
But otherwise, I'll take DL's policy any day of the week. Different strokes...
