BA Clubworld Seating

Wed Feb 10, 2010 1:33 pm

Hi, have just booked my first BA business class flight MAN-LHR-LAX in march and am really looking forward to it. I am unwilling to pay another £60 to choose a seat in advance. If i wait for on-line check in, what choice will i have left. also on the BA website seating plan the upper deck is completely blocked out.... is that because it is full already or has it not been released yet for pre-booking? any advice is appreciated

The upper deck is reserved for card holders until check-in time. Hard to say what seats will be left available to you as there are a lot of variables which will determine this. The trick is to be logged in at precisely the moment online check-in opens at -24, to get the best chance at what is available. Hope you enjoy flying with us

Best seats on the main deck will be the AB or JK seats that are the 2 together, the window seat giving direct access to the aisles and not having to step over the person in the Aisle seat. For greater comfort when travelling together, try the EF seats which are in the middle of the 4, both face rearwards and are very nice if for 2 travelling together.

Head on over to seatguru.com and you can see what seats are rated the best and worst on the 747 fleet.

Have a fab flight with BA
(Off to LA myself next month in J and cant wait to be on-board again, gets boring watching them take off from work and never being on them)
(The views on this site are my own and no one elses)

I am flying BA LHR-JNB-LHR in june/july in Club World, and as an AAdvantage Emerald, I was able to secure the upper deck´s emergency door window, which seatguru states as a great seat, because you do not have to jump the person in the isle to go to the bathroom. BA´s system aloud me to select seats without a problem, so I guess that is what bojangles means by having a "card". It is only for OneWorld/BA Elites.

Agreed, as a Qantas Gold (oneworld Sapphire) we also get this perk free.

Only for advance seat selection and only for those who are not frequent flyers.

I think it's very good actually   You don't have to pay if you want to wait until check-in, and the airline benefits if you don't want to wait until check in. Those that want a certain seat can pay for it.

Why not?
I do quite enjoy a spot of flying - more so when it's not in Economy!

I agree its not a clever move, when you have a choice over a few airlines for C class or above, why go for BA?

Have a look at this recent trip report:
