At A Crossroads ... Aviation Career Advice Needed!

Is this an appropriate venue to get some career advice?
I'm at a cross roads and would like to hear the perspective of other aviation/aerospace professionals; and maybe hear ideas I hadn't thought about...

What options are on the table?

Going back to school? Job change? Company change? Get into a new industry?

I'm sure there's loads of people on here happy to give you an opinion -- you'll just have to decide which ones are useful/practical.

And it depends on which portion of the industry you are looking at. Airline management? Pilot? Maintenance? Manufacturing/Engineering? There's a lot of areas - perhaps you could be a little more specific?

In light of the vague details I can only say that if you are looking to get out of aviation it is best to go into an industry that people can't do without like healthcare, government (debatable I know), utilities or the funeral business. Or conversely, given the economic events of the last few years try becoming an accountant specializing in processing bankruptcies. A blanket answer to a generic question I guess.

Well... some background about myself...
I'm an aerospace engineer by training (BS/MS), and have 6+ years of experience in the aerospace field. I spent 4.5 at Boeing doing design work on the 787, and the rest at the FAA doing analysis and regulatory work... I'm finding out that working for the gov is not what I expected, and not the direction i want to see my career go. I want to make a difference in aviation Africa (where i'm from), but I'm starting to realize that I can do this more effectively as a business man than a regulator.

My dream job would be to help airlines plan their fleet, buy and sell airplanes; mostly internationally. I would like to get into business development, yes yes i'm slightly greedy  

So here are the options

1. Going back to school full-time to get an MBA - Very expensive option since i'm looking at top 10 schools!
2. Going back to Industry and doing the MBA part time

I'm leaning towards option #2, but I don't want to work as an engineer... I would love to cross-over and get into the business end of things while doing the MBA. I think it would be easier for me to apply what i learn in class that way...

The most logical solution would be to go back to Boeing, and try to get into their marketing/sales department, but this is going to be an uphill battle considering the fact that i don't have an MBA yet. And this means I'd have to go back to Seattle...  

Any advice on different approaches? other companies to look at? Comments in general?
I've thought of ILFC, but they are not in a good place right now...
