Spotting At FRA?

Tue Feb 23, 2010 9:19 am

Hi !

I hope to go to FRA this weekend for spotting and then I mean only looking for registration numbers, not taking pictures. I guess the best place is a McDonald's in T1 (LH Terminal) ? I haven't been to FRA for a while so would appriciate any suggestions.

Thanks !

This is at the McDonalds in Terminal 2, where all others besides LH/Star Alliance are handled.

Happy spotting!

As Joost says, this is T2, the airside open air deck will be open, have fun, think I'm there next month.

Correct! There is currently no spotting location around Terminal 1.
But the platform in T2 is not bad, especially if it's sunny. But you have to pay a fee for entering it.

Thanks for the links and the info!

There's a McDonalds's in Terminal 1 Area B level 3 that I went to, is that airside or landside ?

It will be way too cold for me to be outside......

Thanks again!

Hi Lars,

T1B L3 must be an airside McDonald's!

There is a McD where you say and it is airside. Get a table near the window at Kuffler & Bucher next door, I have spent many a pleasant hour there watching the planes go by.

I heard/read the "no liquids " rule also applys to people who want to go out on the observation deck. Anyone confirm this? If true I think its a bit silly...but then so is just about all aspects of airport security.
