Help With Finding Fares/packages (BORACAY)

Sat Mar 13, 2010 12:13 am

Hi, my family is going to the Philippines this summer. Me, my mom and dad. We're planning to go to Boracay and I'm trying to find group packages but I couldn't find any. BTW, there's going to be 11 of us who's going to Boracay. Any suggestions where to book a package?? If you've been to Boracay, plz give me tips and suggestions. Thank U

Me and my wife are also heading to Boracay this summer.
We will be using KLO as gateway, I think they are doing some runway repairs or expansions at MPH, so most or all flights go to KLO.
We couldn't really find any suitable packages either, and often travel agents won't let u book/pay via internet. Since summer is low season, internet hotel portals offer very good deals.
5J had by far the best fares, at least from SIN.

I went to Boracay in 2007, although I was doing it on a shoestring with just me and a backpack so I can't advise you on packages. I got in a lot of flying though, the reports I wrote may help/interest you:

There were dozens of daily flights to Caticlan when I went, but if that's not open you can go to Kalibo and take a bus to Caticlan. From there you need to take a ferry across to the island of Borocay itself, which is pretty fun.

I've got to say though, do you really want to go during the summer? It's the low season and you get heavy rain pretty much every day, plus the chances of typhoons. I was there in late June and it was already deteriorating and some places were already closing up. The rain in itself is incredible, in minutes everywhere is inches underwater, but on the plus side it's much cheaper, and inbetwen the rain it'll probably be nice and sunny.

Yeah, I live here in New York, and the only time we can go is during the summer (July-August) And my cousins are also going with us and they're from Sweden and all of us are only available during July-August...

We have a friend in the Philippines that suggested that it's better to buy it Kalibo/Caticlan...they give you some sort of discount if you speak the native language and if you can convince 'em. Thanks for the info
