QF Premium Economy Vs UA Economy Plus

Sat Apr 03, 2010 8:22 pm

What's better - QF Premium Economy or UA's Economy Plus? I know exactly what I'm getting on UA, given I fly them every week and it's not much. But, for a flight to Australia, I might not cash in my miles and try QF if there's a little added comfort. Business class is out of the question. But, the pictures on the QF website suggest the leg room is non-existent.

Can anyone speak from experience? What would you choose and why?

QF Premium Economy is more a J Lite. Seats are similar (but thinner) to the old J class non flat ones, and the catering is J class standard. You get a nice blanket, noise cancelling headphones, and can get warm snacks on demand throughout the flight. UA only gives you an extra few inches in front.

Not sure what photos you were looking at, but try here.

Have a good flight.

Well there really is no real comparison from my experience!

UA's Economy Plus is everything economy but with UP TO 5 inches extra legroom. Whereas QF Premium economy is a separate class. There is 38" pitch, much better seat recline and comfort (as previously posted, the seat is like the older style biz seats), Business class style food, smaller more private cabin, better flight attendant/pax ratio and the best advantage yet - flying QF from USA to Oz, you can get yourself on the A380 from which I can personally recommend their premium economy product!!!!!

You can't compare the 2 products, the QF product is light years ahead of the UA offering, it's a no brainer pal!

United economy plus is sold no differently then regular economy, while the Qantas Premium Economy is an actual separate ticketing class.
Access to UA's economy+ section seats can be attained either by frequent flyer status, or for supplemental payment if space is available.

QF Premium is probably, if not the best Premium product out there. Its miles ahead of BA and VS in my eyes. The leg space and seat are incredible. Food is very good, as others have said it feels like you're flying Biz Lite rather than Economy Plus

Hands down QF. As commented by others, a true "premium" product.
Don't rule out NZ as well. I would debate they're actually a notch above QF. Free stopovers in AKL to/from SYD and book the 747 and select a Pacific Premium Economy seat on the upper deck. Awesome food, beverage and service on a great airline. QF can entice with a ride on the A380, but price schedule and service on NZ as a much better alternative to UA, VA or DL if you're shopping for Y type fares.
watch what you want. you may get it.

QF premium economy is much better than UA economy + but the price difference between the 2 will be huge especially if you already have status flying United.
