Has Anyone Flown A Reconfigured UA777?

Tue Apr 13, 2010 12:55 am

And if so, what route are they (or it) on?

I don't think the first one is out of the shop yet...

As far as I know, its not due out until later in the month. It will be flying SFO-LHR-DEN-SFO once done.

Geeez, hasn't it been in the shop for 2 months? How long does it take to change one ac over?

So it would originate in Denver, go to SF, then onto LHR?

It's the prototype as such its going to take a bit longer then all the rest as even thought UA Engineering has worked it out on paper some of putting it all together is simply going to be trial and error. I think the Feds also have to sign off on it...

As I understand it, it starts in SFO (MX base), flies to LHR, then to Denver, then back to SFO.

It possible it could turn up on a few random domestic runs before it starts this, this is just what UA announced.

Do we know the expected rate of conversion once the first a/c is done?

I believe it's 30 days +/- a few days.

The reconfigured 747s are already in service.
I flew one last month San Francisco - Tokyo.

Excellent service and fantastic interiors!
Try to get a 1st. class A-cabin flight on their 747s.
That would blow away any 777 experience.

All non-777 international widebody aircraft are reconfigured and in service with the exception of a handful of 744s in storage.

All domestic F seats are to be recovered in leather by the end of the year. Flew SFO-HNL-SFO on both 767s and 777s and none were leather, still comfy, flew SFO-IAD-SXM-PHL-SFO (757, A320, USair, A319) and all F was recovered. Much more comfortable and helped me sleep easier. Doesn't smell either like the cloth seats do.

I believe it's 30 days +/- a few days.

So it must be more than 1 a/c at a time in order for the conversion of the whole fleet to take place before 2012.

I have flown the reconfigured the UA747, in First many times to SYD and SIN in seat 1A. Amazing product and hats off to UA! But given the size of UA's 777 fleet, it's almost impossible to avoid them unless you fly another airline. So, it's long awaited for me!

Don't expect anything to happen that quick. don't forget, they still have lots of ac in the old colors.

Anyone know if United is going to be painting the aircraft that are in the old colors into the new colors when they get the new config?
