Non-rev On Delta (baggage Allowance?)

Sun May 16, 2010 10:14 am

Hello @all,

it intent to non-rev with Delta ATL-LAS on Friday 5/21/10.
I think avaibility is good (DL065 / DL1503 or DL1603) - Coach Class.
Can someone tell me, what the Delta baggage allowance for OAL non-rev is? It's possible that we both exceed 50lbs....

In the past I never had trouble with excess baggage on non-rev flights. What is the policy of Delta?
What is the smoothed process in ATL to connect from LH from FRA? I have heard, that there is a Delta non-rev counter somewhere.

Thanks in advance for very welcomes info

I've not had a problem with baggage when nonreving with DL. You don't get charged baggage fees. However it really just depends who's checking you in as far as if your bags over. I mostly try to travel with just carryon but I've checked a few "heavy" bags in before. They slapped a HEAVY tag on and off I went.
Enjoy Your Flight With DL.

It's been 9 months since I checked baggage as a non-rev, so my memory is a bit foggy. I remember trying to make sure all of us were under the 50lb. limit, but I think one bag was a bit over. I think they just waived it for us since it was close. I know we didn't pay anything extra. Hopefully you'll get the same tolerance, since I assume that may vary depending on who is working behind the counter.

I can't speak in an overly educated manner on the nonrev allowances on DL, but on UA the nonrev checked baggage allowance is generally the same as what they allow for the top-tier elite customers. Two bags for free, not to exceed 50# each - pay for the 3rd, overweight, and oversized bags.

At DL, there are some routes that have a strictly-enforced 1-checked bag maximum policy for nonrevs - you are not even allowed to pay for a 2nd checked bag. 1 checked and that's it. Those routes are those that are generally weight and/or balance critical. KIN, MEX, AMM, LOS, etc. No US domestic route has that bag restriction... as far as I know, at least.

Yes there is a Nonrev counter downstairs. You have to exit through the doors to go outside to the arrivals area. Just ask anyone in ATL and they'll point you in the right direction.

FWIW--I don't recall ever being charged to check bags as a non-rev. HOWEVER, for anyone who travels PR, be VERY careful about the weight!! It will likely cost far more than the ticket!

Thanks for sharing your infos and experiences.
I just printed my tickets today and it states 2PC of luggage each. So I think we are on the save side. Loads on the flight to ATL looks fine. Hope we are on time, so that I have comfortable time to connect.

Many happy landings

When I non-rev on DL with FX there is no charge for checked bags. I haven't checked a bag when traveling for work in years. Coming home on JFK-ATL-AUS with DL, the couple in front of me with two small children were checking bags that both weighed close to 70 .kgs.
